Alok Kumar Mittal was appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Bureau of Police Research and Development

¨     Central Government appointed new heads of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on 6 July 2026.

¨     The appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Narendra Modi.

¨     Alok Kumar Mittal was appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).

¨     He is a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre.

¨     His tenure will continue from the date of assuming charge until 30 June 2029, or until further orders.

¨     Amit Garg was appointed as the Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

¨     He is a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre.

¨     For this appointment, the post of NCRB Director was temporarily upgraded to the rank of Director General (DG) on a personal basis.

¨     His tenure will continue until 31 October 2027, or until further orders.

¨     Sujeet Pandey was appointed as the Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad.

¨     He is a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

¨     His tenure will continue until 31 July 2028, or until further orders.
