• ¨   The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved a one-year extension for Enforcement Directorate (ED) Director Rahul Navin on 8 August 2026.

    ¨     With the extension, Rahul Navin will continue as ED Director until 13 August 2027, or until further orders.

    ¨     The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is a central financial investigation agency under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

    ¨    The ED investigates offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999, and Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018.

    ¨     Rahul Navin is a 1993-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the Income Tax cadre.

    ¨     He joined the Enforcement Directorate as Special Director in November 2019.

    ¨     He took charge as Acting Director of the ED on 15 September 2023, after the tenure of Sanjay Kumar Mishra ended.

    ¨     The ED Director is initially appointed for a fixed tenure of two years.

    ¨     The administrative rules allow up to three separate one-year extensions after the completion of the initial tenure.
