Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri passed away in Dehradun

¨     Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri passed away in Dehradun on 19 May 2026 at the age of 91.

¨     He was a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

¨     He was a retired Major General in the Indian Army.

¨     He was popularly known as “General Sahab” in public life.

¨     He served as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for two terms.

¨     His first term as Chief Minister was from 2007 to 2009.

¨     His second term was from 2011 to 2012.

¨     He represented the Garhwal parliamentary constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha.

¨     He also served as Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

¨     The Golden Quadrilateral is a national highway network project in India.

¨     It connects Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.

¨   The project was launched to improve road connectivity among major industrial and cultural centres.
