¨     Canadian-Hungarian-British writer David Szalay has won the 2025 Booker Prize for fiction for his novel “Flesh” at a ceremony in London.

¨     The novel tells the story of an ordinary man’s life over several decades in which what isn’t on the page is just as important as what is.

¨     On 10 November, Szalay was announced as the winner of the 50,000-pound award.

¨     Szalay, aged 51, was selected from a total of 153 submitted novels.

¨     The judging panel included Irish writer Roddy Doyle and “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker.

¨     Szalay was previously shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2016 for his book “All That Man Is”.

¨     Last year, Britain’s Samantha Harvey won the 2024 Booker Prize for her novel ‘Orbital’.

¨     The Booker Prize was established in 1969 and has established a reputation for transforming the careers of writers.
