Central Government has announced that over 55,200 startups were recognized during the financial year 2025-26

• ¨     Since the inception of the ‘Startup India initiative,’ this marks the first year in which the number of recognized startups has reached its highest level.
•     This remarkable growth reflects the evolving landscape and the robust policy support being extended by the government.
•   Record Growth in India’s Startup Ecosystem
•     This growth underscores strong entrepreneurial activity across the country. The recognition of over 55,200 startups in a single year represents a major milestone under the ‘Startup India’ program.
•    Since its launch on January 16, 2016, the objective of ‘Startup India’ has been to foster a supportive environment for innovation, simplify regulations, and attract investment. Over time, this initiative has transformed India into a vibrant startup ecosystem, encompassing diverse sectors—such as Fintech, Edtech, Healthtech, and Deep Tech—all of which are expanding rapidly.
•      As of March 31, 2026, the total number of recognized startups has surpassed 2.23 lakh, demonstrating consistent year-on-year growth.
