¨     China announced a zero-tariff policy for African countries from May 1, 2026

¨     The policy applies to countries having diplomatic relations with China.

¨     A total of 53 African countries will benefit from this initiative.

¨     Aim: to strengthen trade ties with Africa and boost exports.

¨     For 20 non-LDC countries, the policy will be effective from May 1, 2026 to April 30, 2028.

¨     These countries will receive preferential tariff benefits.

¨     For tariff quota products, only in-quota tariffs will be reduced to zero.

¨     Out-of-quota tariff rates will remain unchanged.

¨     Ensures balance between regulated imports and trade benefits.

¨     Focus on strengthening China–Africa economic partnership.

¨     Plans to improve “green channels” for African agricultural exports.

¨     Trade facilitation measures will be enhanced for long-term cooperation.
