¨     Debadatta Priyadarshi from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, won a gold medal at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2026.

¨     The 58th IChO was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 10 to 19 July 2026.

¨     India won four gold medals, recording its best-ever performance in the competition.

¨     The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual international chemistry competition for secondary school students.

¨     It is one of the four major International Science Olympiads.

¨     The other major Science Olympiads are the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), and International Biology Olympiad (IBO).

¨     India's other gold medallists were Harshit Singla (Punjab), Kabeer Chhillar (Delhi), and Sandeep Kuchi (Telangana).

¨     India jointly secured first place in the medals tally with China, Vietnam, and the Individual Participants Group B from Russia.

¨     The 2026 edition featured 363 students from 93 countries, making it the largest IChO ever held.

¨     Debadatta Priyadarshi had won a silver medal at the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad 2025.

¨     The 57th IChO was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 5 to 14 July 2025.

¨     India won two gold and two silver medals at the 2025 IChO.
