Delhi government announced collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crore for women self-help groups (SHGs) and women-led startups

¨     Delhi government announced collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crore for women self-help groups (SHGs) and women-led startups.

¨     Under this initiative, the Delhi government will act as the guarantor.

¨     The announcement was made during the Mega Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela-2026 held in North-West Delhi.

¨     Self-help groups are small informal collectives that pool savings and access credit for income-generating activities.

¨     In India, SHGs are linked to women’s livelihoods, micro-enterprises, and credit delivery through banks and government programmes in rural and urban areas.

¨     The initiative covers women-led enterprises across sectors such as handicrafts, food processing, household manufacturing, khadi products, fashion, small retail, and digital businesses.

¨     The scheme focuses on improving institutional credit access, meaning access to loans through formal financial institutions like commercial and cooperative banks.

¨     The event was held at Unity One Mall near Rohini West Metro Station.

¨     The two-day Mega SHG Mela-2026 featured participation from around 24 SHGs.

¨     These groups showcased handmade products for buyers and financial institutions.
