Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar set a joint men’s national pole vault record of 5.45 metres

¨     Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar set a joint men’s national pole vault record of 5.45 metres on 24 May 2026.

¨     The achievement took place at the 29th National Senior Athletics Federation Competition in Ranchi.

¨     The record was set during the Federation Cup 2026, where the national record was broken twice in quick succession.

¨     Before the Ranchi event, the Indian men’s pole vault national record stood at 5.41 metres.

¨     The previous record belonged to Kuldeep Kumar.

¨     Dev Meena first improved the record by clearing 5.42 metres.

¨     Later, Kuldeep Kumar cleared 5.45 metres to equal and reclaim the national record.

¨     Both Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar cleared the same height of 5.45 metres.

¨     Dev Meena won the gold medal on countback.

¨     Kuldeep Kumar secured the silver medal.

¨     Both athletes achieved the qualification standard for the 2026 Asian Games with their 5.45-metre performance.

¨     Their performance also surpassed the qualification standard of 5.25 metres for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

¨     On 2 May 2026, Kuldeep Kumar had earlier set the national record of 5.41 metres at the 1st Indian Indoor Open Combined Events and Pole Vault Competition in Bhubaneswar.

¨     At that event, he had surpassed Dev Meena’s earlier mark of 5.40 metres.
