¨ Digital India BHASHINI Division and NITI Aayog signed a Statement of Intent in New Delhi on 12 August 2026.
¨ The partnership aims to promote multilingual and voice-first Artificial Intelligence (AI) for public governance and government services.
¨ The Digital India BHASHINI Division functions under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
¨ Under the partnership, BHASHINI language translation APIs and reference applications will be integrated into NITI Aayog’s digital platforms and communication workflows.
¨ BHASHINI is India’s national language technology mission aimed at developing digital language services for Indian languages.
¨ It provides technologies such as machine translation, Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, and other language-related services.
¨ The platform supports multiple Indian languages and aims to make digital public services more accessible.
¨ The Statement of Intent was signed by Amitabh Nag, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, and Shoyabahmed Kalal, Director of NITI Aayog.
¨ NITI Aayog is the Government of India’s leading policy think tank, working on policy planning, innovation, and governance-related initiatives.
