Minister Hira Singh Bisht passed away on 26 July 2026 at the age of 85 in
Dehradun.

He died of cardiac arrest
while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
¨
Hira Singh Bisht was a
senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC).
¨
He served as a three-time
Member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly (MLA), representing the Doiwala
and Rajpur constituencies.
¨
He was a Cabinet Minister
in the government of former Chief Minister N.D. Tiwari.
¨
During his ministerial
tenure, he held the portfolios of Transport, Labour, and Technical Education.
¨
Born on 4 November 1940,
he remained actively involved in Uttarakhand politics for several decades.
¨
Apart from his
legislative role, he also held important organizational responsibilities within
the Indian National Congress in the state.
¨
Hira Singh Bisht was a
founder member of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand.
¨ He played a significant role in securing land for the Raipur Cricket Stadium in Dehradun.
¨ He also served as the President of the Uttarakhand unit of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC).
