Foundation Stone Laid for AMCA
Infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh
¨ The foundation stone for
the infrastructure of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme is
being laid on 15 May 2026 at Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra
Pradesh.
¨
The project involves an
estimated infrastructure investment of ₹15,803 crore.
¨
The facility will be
developed over nearly 650 acres of land.
¨ The Advanced Medium
Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is India’s first indigenous fifth-generation stealth
fighter jet programme.
¨ The programme is being
developed jointly by the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the
Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).
¨
The AMCA facility is
expected to generate around 7,500 direct high-skilled jobs.
¨ The project is linked to
prototype development following formal approval by the Cabinet Committee on
Security (CCS) in March 2024.
¨ The programme also includes the launch of several defence, aerospace, and drone manufacturing projects in Andhra Pradesh.
¨ Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is also laying the foundation stone for a new naval systems manufacturing plant of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) at T. Sirasapalli village in Anakapalli district.
