Goa Enhances Financial Assistance Under Atal Asra Yojana for Scheduled Tribes

¨     Atal Asra Yojana is a housing assistance scheme for Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities in Goa.

¨     The scheme is implemented by the Department of Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa.

¨     It provides financial assistance for house repairs, construction, and reconstruction.

¨     The scheme addresses housing needs under the State’s tribal welfare programme.

¨     Financial assistance for house repairs is proposed to be increased from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹3 lakh.

¨     Assistance for house construction or reconstruction is proposed to be increased from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh.

¨     The Goa State Budget 2026–27 has proposed an allocation of ₹15 crore for the scheme.

¨     The proposed amendments were announced on 7 March 2026 by Pramod Sawant.

¨     To be eligible, an applicant must generally belong to a Scheduled Tribe community in Goa.

¨     The annual family income limit for eligibility is ₹3,00,000.

¨     An online application portal, AtalAsra.com, was launched on 16 February 2026 for scheme beneficiaries.

¨     The portal is integrated with the administrative process for housing assistance applications.

¨     The scheme aims to improve housing conditions and enhance the socio-economic well-being of Scheduled Tribe families in Goa.
