HAL and GE Aerospace Sign Key Deal to Co-Develop Advanced Jet Engines for India

¨   To strengthen the Startup ecosystem of India Government has launched the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0. This 2.0 version will be backed by the massive ₹10,000 crore corpus. It was announced by the central government and this initiative aims to boost the investments in deep-tech, innovative manufacturing and early-stage startups.

HAL-GE F414 Deal: Key Highlights

¨   This agreement focuses on the co-production of F414 jet engines, which are widely utilized in advanced fighter aircraft.

¨     The deal involves the transfer of essential manufacturing technology to India.

¨     This also marks the first collaboration of its kind between the two companies.

¨     The final commercial contract is expected to be concluded shortly.

¨     These engines will power India's upcoming indigenous fighter jets.

Why does the F414 engine deal matter to India?

¨     The F414 engines, developed by GE Aerospace, have been in use by the US Navy for the past three decades.

¨   Their proven reliability makes them an ideal choice for India's future combat aircraft programs.

¨     One of India's long-term objectives is also to reduce its dependence on imported defense equipment.
