¨ Hindalco Industries Limited commissioned India’s first greenfield Superfine Precipitated Aluminium Trihydrate (PPT ATH) manufacturing plant.

The plant is located in
Belagavi, Karnataka.
¨
It marks the beginning of
domestic production of specialty alumina material used in fire-safety
applications.
¨ PPT ATH is an aluminium
hydroxide-based mineral compound used as a flame-retardant filler in polymers.
¨ Superfine PPT ATH is used
in halogen-free flame-retardant materials, polymer insulators, and thermal
insulation products.
¨
The plant has a Phase 1
annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes.
¨
Its capacity is designed
to be expanded to 60,000 tonnes per year in phases.
¨ The facility is described
as the world’s only specialty alumina plant powered entirely by renewable
energy.
¨
Its renewable energy mix
includes solar, wind, and biomass power.
¨ The plant uses fully automated process controls.
¨Its technology is based on Hindalco’s in-house “flask-to-factory” R&D and technology programme.
