Indian Potash Limited
(IPL) and Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) at Indian Potash Limited's Corporate Office, New Delhi.
¨
The MoU aims to promote
drip irrigation systems for sugarcane cultivation in Gujarat.
¨
The agreement covers
survey, design, supply, installation, commissioning, farmer training, and field
demonstrations.
¨
The partnership will also
focus on capacity building and technical support for farmers.
¨
Eligible farmers will be
assisted in accessing credit facilities and government grant support for
adopting Micro Irrigation Systems (MIS).
¨
Drip irrigation is a
micro irrigation method that delivers water directly to the root zone of plants
through emitters, drippers, or micro-tubes.
¨
It is widely used for
sugarcane, orchards, vegetables, and plantation crops, particularly in
water-scarce regions.
¨
Fertigation is the
application of fertilisers through irrigation systems, especially drip or
sprinkler irrigation, ensuring efficient nutrient delivery.
¨
Micro Irrigation Systems
(MIS) include drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation.
¨
These systems help reduce
water loss through evaporation, runoff, and deep percolation, improving
water-use efficiency and crop productivity.
¨ Indian Potash Limited (IPL) is a leading Indian company engaged in the fertiliser and agri-input sector.
¨ Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) is a leading manufacturer of micro irrigation equipment and provider of agricultural technology solutions.
