India Included in the Revised Draft List
Issued by the European Union (EU)
¨
India was included in a
revised draft list published by the European Union on 12 May 2026, allowing
continued exports of aquaculture products to the 27-member bloc.
¨
This inclusion is linked
to ensuring export continuity for Indian aquaculture shipments to the EU beyond
September 2026.
¨
Under European Commission
Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/905, exporting countries must ensure that
animals and animal products sent to the EU are free from antimicrobial
medicinal products used for growth promotion.
¨
The regulation also
restricts the use of antimicrobials reserved for human medical treatment.
¨
Earlier, India was
omitted from EU Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2598 issued on 4 October
2024.
¨
That regulation had not
authorised India for exports of products of animal origin for human consumption
to the EU from September 2026 onwards.
¨
In 2025–26, the European
Union was India’s third-largest seafood export market.
¨ The EU accounted for 18.94% of India’s total seafood export value, which stood at USD 1.593 billion.
¨ Farmed shrimp constituted a major share of India’s seafood exports to the EU.
