India secured five medals at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China

¨     India secured five medals at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China.

¨     India secured sixth place in the overall medal standings at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin.

¨     Tejaswin Shankar won the the Men’s heptathlon event and secured India's only gold medal at the championships.

¨     Shankar scored 5,993 points to create a new national indoor record.

¨     He surpassed his previous record of 5,650 points cretaed in US in 2021.

¨     On the final day of the championships, India won three more medals.

¨     Pooja won silver medal in the high jump. Tajinderpal Singh Toor secured silver medal in the shot put. Ancy Sojan won bronze medal in the long jump.

¨     Host nation China topped medal standings with 34 medals, which include 10 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze won during Asian Indoor Athletics Championships.
