¨   India submitted its new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for the 2031–35 period under the Paris Agreement.

¨     These were formally submitted to the United Nations climate body.

¨  Key Focus: Expansion of clean energy, reduction in emissions intensity, and expansion of carbon sinks.

¨ The achievement of these targets was stated to be contingent upon financial assistance, technology transfer, and capacity building received from developed nations.

¨  A target to derive 60% of total installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2035.

¨   A target to reduce the emissions intensity of GDP by 47% compared to 2005 levels.

¨   A target to create a carbon sink of 3.5–4 billion tonnes of CO₂ equivalent by 2035 through the expansion of forest and tree cover.

¨ Objective: To maintain a balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability.
