¨     Indian chess Grandmaster Pranesh M. won the Kanizsa Open 2026 Group A title in Nagykanizsa, Hungary.

¨     The 19-year-old Grandmaster from Tamil Nadu delivered a strong performance to claim the championship.

¨     After nine rounds, Pranesh finished with 7 points and was tied for first place with three other players.

¨     In the ninth and final round, Pranesh defeated German Grandmaster Vadim Petrovskiy with the White pieces.

¨     The victory helped Pranesh finish the tournament with 7 points out of 9 rounds.

¨     Three other Grandmasters also finished on 7 points: Israeli GM Or Bronstein, Ukrainian GM Andrei Volokitin, and Indian GM Karthik Venkataraman.

¨     Since four players were tied on points, the winner was determined by tie-break scores.
