Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission has been recognised by the WHO South-East Asia Regulatory Network in two important roles

¨     Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has been recognised by the WHO South-East Asia Regulatory Network in two important roles.

¨     IPC has been recognised as a Regional Centre of Excellence for Pharmacovigilance.

¨     It has also been recognised as a Technical Centre for Medicines Quality.

¨     This dual recognition acknowledges IPC’s expertise in drug safety monitoring and medicine quality standards.

¨     As a Centre of Excellence, IPC will contribute to capacity building, knowledge sharing and strengthening regulatory systems in the WHO South-East Asia Region.

¨     IPC presented its key contributions, including the Indian Pharmacopoeia, Indian Pharmacopoeia Reference Substances and Impurity Reference Standards.

¨     Its other major contributions include the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India and the Materiovigilance Programme of India.

¨     The recognition strengthens India’s role in regional pharmaceutical regulatory cooperation.

¨     It also highlights India’s expertise in medicine quality and pharmacovigilance.

¨     The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
