IOCL and State Trading Corporation of Mauritius signed a five-year Sales and Purchase Agreement

¨     Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius signed a 5-year sale and purchase agreement in Port Louis on August 20, 2026.

¨     Under the agreement, IOCL will meet 100% of Mauritius's import requirements for motor spirit, high-speed diesel, and aviation turbine fuel.

¨     India and Mauritius also signed a government-to-government Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 20, 2026, for cooperation in the energy sector.

¨     The MoU covers cooperation in areas such as oil and gas, biofuels, capacity building, and training.

¨     The agreement was exchanged in the presence of India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, and the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam.

¨     Hardeep Singh Puri visited Port Louis on August 20–21, 2026, and held discussions on bilateral energy cooperation.

¨     On August 21, 2026, he participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a marine bunker fuel storage facility at Mer Rouge, Port Louis.

¨     The estimated cost of this storage facility is 25 million US dollars.

¨     The facility will have a storage capacity of 27,500 metric tonnes.

¨     "Motor spirit" is the standard term used for petrol in petroleum trade and regulatory frameworks.

¨     Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) is used in the engines of jet aircraft.

¨     A government-to-government agreement is an accord reached between two sovereign nations through official channels.

¨     Port Louis is the capital and major port city of Mauritius.

¨     This long-term fuel supply agreement will strengthen India-Mauritius energy cooperation and boost Mauritius's fuel security.
