¨     Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet approved power infrastructure projects worth ₹93 crore for Srinagar and surrounding areas.

¨     The projects include the expansion of the grid substation at Zainakote.

¨     The Cabinet also approved the upgradation of two 132 kV transmission lines.

¨     The grid substation at Zainakote is an electricity transmission facility.

¨     Its capacity will be increased from 450 Megavolt-Amperes (MVA) to 780 MVA.

¨     The estimated cost of the expansion project is ₹67.66 crore.

¨     Megavolt-Ampere (MVA) is a unit used to measure apparent power in electrical systems.

¨     The Cabinet approved the upgradation of the 132 kV Pampore–Rawalpora transmission line.

¨     It also approved the upgradation of the 132 kV Rawalpora–Bemina transmission line.

¨     The estimated cost of these transmission line projects is ₹25.47 crore.

¨     A 132 kV line is part of a high-voltage transmission network.

¨     Such lines are used for bulk electricity transfer.

¨     The projects were approved during the sixth meeting of the Council of Ministers.

¨     These projects are part of the power sector infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

¨   Transmission capacity and distribution reliability depend on grid substations and high-voltage transmission lines.
