approved power infrastructure projects worth ₹93 crore for Srinagar and
surrounding areas.

The projects include the
expansion of the grid substation at Zainakote.

The Cabinet also approved
the upgradation of two 132 kV transmission lines.

The grid substation at
Zainakote is an electricity transmission facility.
¨
Its capacity will be
increased from 450 Megavolt-Amperes (MVA) to 780 MVA.

The estimated cost of the
expansion project is ₹67.66 crore.
¨
Megavolt-Ampere (MVA) is
a unit used to measure apparent power in electrical systems.

The Cabinet approved the
upgradation of the 132 kV Pampore–Rawalpora transmission line.

It also approved the
upgradation of the 132 kV Rawalpora–Bemina transmission line.

The estimated cost of
these transmission line projects is ₹25.47 crore.

A 132 kV line is part of
a high-voltage transmission network.
¨
Such lines are used for
bulk electricity transfer.

The projects were
approved during the sixth meeting of the Council of Ministers.
