Jay Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas (JPNSV): Uttar Pradesh’s Network of Free Residential Schools

¨     Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya (JPNSV) is a network of free residential schools operating in Uttar Pradesh, managed by the Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department.

¨     Eligible students in these schools are provided with facilities such as hostel accommodation, meals, uniforms, books, stationery, and residential education free of cost.

¨     The objective of the JPNSV scheme is to provide quality education to students from economically weaker and socially disadvantaged families.

¨     These schools cater to students from poor families belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and the General category.

¨     Currently, there are 101 JPNSV schools in total.

¨     This includes 69 schools for boys and 32 schools for girls.

¨     To gain admission to JPNSV, a student must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

¨     Passing Class 5 is a mandatory requirement for admission.

Annual Family Income Limit:

¨     Rural areas – ₹46,080

¨     Urban areas – ₹56,460

¨     Admission process for the 2026 academic session:

¨     Online applications begin – 20 January 2026

¨     Last date for application – 20 February 2026

¨     Entrance exam – 15 March 2026

Seat reservation in JPNSV schools:

¨     Scheduled Castes (SC) – 60%

¨     Other Backward Classes (OBC) – 25%

¨     Economically Weaker General Category – 15%
