Jonnagiri Gold Mine in Tuggali Mandal, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, commenced commercial operations

¨     Jonnagiri Gold Mine in Tuggali Mandal, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, commenced commercial operations on 24 June 2026.

¨     The mine is operated by GeoMysore Services India Private Limited.

¨     It is described as India’s only operational private-sector primary gold mine since Independence.

¨     The project is spread over approximately 598 hectares.

¨     It has been developed with an investment of ₹405 crore.

¨     The mine is located in the Rayalaseema region, with Kurnool being one of Andhra Pradesh’s major mineral-producing districts.

¨     Trial production at the mine began in May 2026, before the start of commercial operations.

¨     Gold production for 2026–27 is estimated at around 400 kilograms.

¨     Annual production is expected to increase to about 1,000 kilograms in the coming years.

¨     After further expansion, annual production is projected to reach 2 tonnes.

¨     The project is expected to generate around 700 direct jobs.

¨     More than 80% of the workforce is expected to be recruited from the local population.

¨     The Andhra Pradesh Government is expected to receive 4% royalty on gold production.
