Keyi Panyor District of Arunachal Pradesh selected to become India’s first bio-happy district

¨     Keyi Panyor District of Arunachal Pradesh selected to become India’s first bio-happy district.

¨     Work has been initiated to develop Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh as India’s first Bio-Happy District.

¨     The project has been undertaken by the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.

¨     The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the district administration.

¨     The concept of Biohappiness was originally proposed by late scientist M.S. Swaminathan.

¨     The project will assess livelihoods, agro-biodiversity and ecological sustainability within the district.

¨     Biohappiness focuses on human well-being through biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

¨     The initiative has been revived during the centenary year of M.S. Swaminathan.

¨     Studies on health exposure around landfill sites will be undertaken with IIT Madras and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Resea

¨     The use of artificial intelligence for plant disease identification and agricultural support was highlighted during the event.
