Work has been initiated to develop Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal
Pradesh as India’s first Bio-Happy District.

The project has been undertaken by the M.S. Swaminathan Research
Foundation.

The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the district
administration.

The concept of Biohappiness was originally proposed by late scientist
M.S. Swaminathan.
¨
The project will assess livelihoods, agro-biodiversity and ecological
sustainability within the district.
¨
Biohappiness focuses on human well-being through biodiversity
conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

The initiative has been revived during the centenary year of M.S.
Swaminathan.
¨ Studies on health exposure around landfill sites will be undertaken with IIT Madras and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Resea
¨ The use of artificial intelligence for plant disease identification and agricultural support was highlighted during the event.
