Ministry of Coal auctioned six coal blocks

¨       Ministry of Coal auctioned six coal blocks on 4 August 2026.

¨       The auction was conducted under the 15th round and the supplementary phase of the 13th round of commercial coal mine auctions.

¨       The six blocks have combined geological reserves of more than 1,503 million tonnes.

¨       Their cumulative Peak Rated Capacity (PRC) is 11.62 million tonnes per annum.

¨       Commercial coal mining auctions in India began in 2020 after opening the coal sector to private participation.

¨       The auction system allows private and public entities to bid for coal blocks.

¨       Coal can be supplied for sale in the open market as well as captive use, subject to applicable rules.

¨       The six auctioned coal blocks are located in Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

¨       Dip Side Extension of PKOC (Telangana) was awarded to The Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

¨       Dongeri Tal-II (Madhya Pradesh) was awarded to Gallantt Ispat Limited.

¨       Mandla South (Madhya Pradesh) was awarded to Qube Commercial Private Limited.

¨       Margo East and Margo West (Jharkhand) were awarded to Jharkhand Exploration and Mining Corporation Limited.

¨       Tara (Revised) (Chhattisgarh) was awarded to CG Syn-Gas and Chemicals Limited.

¨       Four blocks are fully explored, while two blocks are partially explored.

¨       The classification of fully and partially explored blocks is based on the standard assessment of coal resources.
