Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Bharat Forge Limited

¨     Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Bharat Forge Limited on 19 June 2026.

¨     The contract is for the procurement of 12 sets of 1.25 MW Marine Gas Turbine Generators for the Indian Navy.

¨     The contract is valued at approximately ₹425 crore.

¨     The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

¨     Marine Gas Turbine Generators are onboard power generation systems used on warships and other naval platforms.

¨     These generators convert fuel energy into mechanical energy and then into electrical power for shipboard systems.

¨ The procurement has been made under the Buy (Indian) category of the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020.

¨     The Buy (Indian) category mandates a minimum 60% indigenous content.

¨     The 1.25 MW generators will be installed on Kolkata-class warships of the Indian Navy.

¨     They will replace the lower-capacity generators currently in service.

¨     The contract is scheduled to be executed over a period of five years.
