• ¨  Mohsen Rezaee was appointed as the representative, secretary, and head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).

    ¨     The appointment was made by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

    ¨   He was appointed following the resignation of Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr from the post.

    ¨ The Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) is Iran’s highest body for national security and defence decision-making.

    ¨     The council coordinates matters related to foreign policy, intelligence, and defence.

    ¨     The council operates under the formal chairmanship of the President of Iran.

    ¨   Mohsen Rezaee served as the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from 1981 to 1997.

    ¨  He has also served as a senior military adviser and as a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council.

    ¨     Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr had served as SNSC secretary since 24 March 2026.

    ¨     Zolghadr had succeeded Ali Larijani, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes.

    ¨     Zolghadr was later moved to the position of political adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader.
