National
Counter-Terrorism Conference has been inaugurated in New Delhi by Union Home
Minister Amit Shah.

The conference was
organised by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Nine NIA personnel have
been honoured with the Sewa Padak and Veerta Padak for their contributions to
counter-terrorism.
¨
NIA’s Updated Crime
Manual, Organised Crime Network Database, and Lost and Recovered Weapon
Database have been unveiled by him.
¨
Terrorism has been
described as the biggest enemy of humankind, requiring collective efforts to
combat it.
¨
The conference has been
described as the country’s strategic thought platform for counter-terror
operations.
¨
A whole of government
approach followed to develop synergies among various stakeholders.
¨
The two-day conference
served as a meeting point for operational forces, technical, legal and forensic
experts.
¨
Senior police officers
from States and Union Territories, Central agencies and subject experts
attended the conference.
