¨     National Teachers Awards 2026 will be conferred on 48 school teachers.

¨     The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu.

¨     The ceremony will be held on 5 September 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

¨     5 September is observed as National Teachers’ Day in India.

¨     National Teachers’ Day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

¨     Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888.

¨     He served as the second President of India.

¨     The day recognises the contribution of teachers to education.

¨     The 48 awardees include 26 male and 22 female teachers.

¨     The awardees come from 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations.

¨     The selection process was conducted at three levels—district, state and national.

¨     Online self-nominations were accepted from 15 June to 20 July 2026.

¨     Nominations were submitted through the Ministry of Education portal.

¨     The awardees represent Government Schools, PM SHRI Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools and Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

¨     The ceremony will feature short documentaries highlighting the work of all 48 teachers.

¨     The ceremony will be broadcast live on Doordarshan and SWAYAM PRABHA channels.
