• ¨  Odisha received investment proposals worth ₹43,437 crore in the food processing sector during the launch of Odisha Food Pro-2026 in New Delhi.

    ¨   The event was held on 7 August 2026 and was the first sector-specific investment roadshow organised outside Odisha.

    ¨   The roadshow was organised in collaboration with ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India).

    ¨     The Odisha government signed 27 MoUs worth ₹41,748 crore on the inaugural day.

    ¨     These MoUs were expected to generate around 35,252 employment opportunities.

    ¨     The state also received 12 Investment Intent Forms (IIFs) worth ₹1,689 crore.

    ¨     The IIFs were estimated to create around 8,064 jobs.

    ¨     Together, the MoUs and IIFs had the potential to generate 43,316 direct and indirect jobs.

    ¨     The total investment proposals received on the first day amounted to ₹43,437 crore.

    ¨     The food processing sector converts agricultural produce into edible or semi-processed products.

    ¨     The sector includes fruits, vegetables, cereals, dairy, meat, fisheries, packaged foods, and beverages.

    ¨   Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a five-pillar roadmap for the development of the food processing sector.

    ¨ The five pillars include specialised food clusters, integrated cold-chain networks, food quality certification, MSME and women self-help group integration, and workforce skill development.

    ¨     Key infrastructure for food processing includes cold chains, warehouses, quality certification facilities, logistics networks, and market linkages.
