OHCHR Launches ‘Global Alliance for Human
Rights’ to Strengthen Global Commitment to Human Rights
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for
Human Rights has launched the Global Alliance for Human Rights to reinforce
global commitment to human rights amid rising conflicts, growing inequalities,
shrinking civic space, and emerging technological challenges.

The Global Alliance for
Human Rights is a multi-stakeholder, cross-regional initiative convened by the
OHCHR.
¨
It brings together
governments, businesses, civil society organizations, cities, educators,
academics, youth groups, and community leaders.
¨
The Alliance is anchored
in the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and is
structured as a long-term initiative leading up to its 80th anniversary in
2028.

Goal: To place human
rights at the centre of decision-making at local, national, and global levels.
¨
To strengthen collective
action for protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
