• ¨     Oman and Saudi Arabia launched the Secure Green Land Corridor in August 2026.

    ¨     It is a direct land-based logistics route passing through the Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter) desert.

    ¨     The corridor connects Sohar Port in Oman with an inland dry port in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

    ¨     Its main objective is to facilitate faster and more efficient freight movement between the two countries.

    ¨     The corridor operates through a strategic partnership between Oman-based Arkan Logistics and Saudi Arabia’s SPARK Logistics.

    ¨     The corridor was announced following a bilateral logistics agreement by the Saudi Ministry of Transport on 6 August 2026.

    ¨     The physical highway through the Rub’ al Khali was opened to traffic in December 2021, providing the infrastructure base for the logistics corridor.

    ¨     The Rub’ al Khali is one of the world’s largest continuous sand deserts and extends across Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, and Yemen.

    ¨     The corridor provides an alternative route that can bypass the Strait of Hormuz and UAE transit borders for selected freight movements.

    ¨     Sohar Port is a major port in Oman, while Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province is an important industrial and logistics hub.

    ¨     The corridor connects maritime freight systems with inland logistics networks through a direct land route across the desert.
