Optical Fibre Cable Project worth ₹398
crore approved by Indian Railways
¨ The Optical Fibre Cable
Backbone Project worth approximately ₹398 crore was approved by Indian Railways
for Ahmedabad and Ratlam Divisions.
¨ A total network coverage
of 1,929 route kilometres is planned under the project across Western Railway.
¨ Out of the total, 1,456
route kilometres will be covered in Ahmedabad Division, while 473 route
kilometres will be laid in Ratlam Division.
¨
The project has been
approved under the umbrella work titled ‘Provision of Kavach with communication
backbone of long-term evolution on balance routes of Indian Railways’.
¨ The communication
infrastructure of the railways is expected to be significantly strengthened
through this augmentation.
¨
Enhanced capacity,
reliability, and efficiency of railway communication systems will be ensured
through the implementation.
¨
Modern signalling
systems, including Kavach, will be supported by seamless and high-speed data
transmission.
