¨     Praveen Vashista appointed as Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission.

¨     He previously served as Special Secretary for Internal Security in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
¨     He took voluntary retirement from service on 15 January 2026.
¨     On 16 January 2026, he was appointed Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission.
¨     Praveen Vashista is a 1991-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Bihar cadre.
¨     He was sworn in as Vigilance Commissioner on 16 January 2026.
¨     The Central Vigilance Commission functions under the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003.
¨     The commission consists of one Central Vigilance Commissioner and two Vigilance Commissioners.
¨     Each Vigilance Commissioner has a fixed tenure of four years or until the age of 65 years.
¨     Vashista was appointed as Special Secretary for Internal Security in December 2024.
¨     The appointment as Vigilance Commissioners was made by the President of India under the powers granted by Section 4(1) of the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003.
