The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is India’s central bank, established on 1 April 1935 under the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) sets the policy repo rate under the amended RBI Act, 1934, and meets at regular intervals. The Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH) collects households’ perceptions and expectations regarding inflation and future price movements. The July 2026 round of the IESH covers 19 cities. The Rural Consumer Confidence Survey (RCCS) collects information from households in rural and semi-urban areas across 31 States and Union Territories. The RCCS assesses the general economic situation, employment, prices, income, and spending, along with one-year-ahead expectations. The Urban Consumer Confidence Survey (UCCS) gathers qualitative responses from households in 19 cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai. The UCCS evaluates the general economic situation, employment scenario, price levels, household income, and spending. The findings of these surveys help the RBI assess inflation expectations, consumer sentiment, and support monetary policy decisions.
