¨     Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang presented the 2026–27 State Budget in the Legislative Assembly.

¨     The total budget size is ₹19,215 crore, with a net expenditure of ₹18,455 crore after recoveries.

¨     The budget provides ₹11,733 crore for revenue expenditure and ₹5,896 crore for capital expenditure (excluding loans and advances).

¨     The budget will be financed through the state's own revenue, transfers from the Government of India, and borrowings.

¨     ₹2,460 crore has been allocated for Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS).

¨     Infrastructure development and social welfare are among the major areas of expenditure.

¨     The budget provides for statewide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) screening for around 1.5 lakh women aged 30–65 years.

¨     Sikkim's first Renal Transplant Programme will be operationalised at STNM Hospital.

¨     The Sikkim Government Medical College at Sochakgang will begin operations with an annual intake of 100 MBBS students.

¨     Sikkim became the 22nd state of India in 1975.

¨     The Sikkim Legislative Assembly is unicameral and has 32 members.

¨     Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) measures the total value of goods and services produced within a state.
