¨     Skyroot Aerospace  became India’s first space-tech unicorn company on 7 May 2026.

¨     The company achieved a valuation of around 1.1 billion US dollars.

¨     Skyroot Aerospace raised nearly 60 million US dollars in a new funding round.

¨     The company is based in Hyderabad.

¨     It operates in India’s private space launch sector.

¨     The funding round was jointly led by Sherpalo Ventures and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC.

¨     Sherpalo Ventures was founded by Ram Shriram.

¨     Other investors included Greenko Group, Arkam Ventures, funds managed by BlackRock, Playbook Partners, and the Shanghvi Family Office.

¨     Vikram-1 is an orbital launch vehicle developed by Skyroot Aerospace.

¨     It is being designed to launch satellites into Earth’s orbit.

¨     The company plans to use the new capital for Vikram-1 launches, production expansion, team growth, and technology development.

¨     As of 29 April 2026, Vikram-1 was in the final stages of integration and testing.

¨     The launch was planned from Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

¨     The Integrated Electrical Test Campaign Phase-3 was completed on 24 April 2026.

¨     The test integrated the vehicle, ground software, and electrical interfaces into a single system.
