South Korea nominated Han Seong-sook as the next Prime Minister

¨     South Korea nominated Han Seong-sook as the next Prime Minister on 7 June 2026.

¨     She is currently the Minister for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Startups.

¨     Her nomination requires approval by the 300-member National Assembly.

¨     In South Korea, the Prime Minister is the head of government under the Constitution of the Republic of Korea.

¨     The Prime Minister is appointed by the President and confirmed by the National Assembly.

¨     Han Seong-sook is 58 years old and has also served as the CEO of Naver, a major South Korean internet company.

¨     If confirmed, she would become South Korea’s first female Prime Minister in two decades.

¨     She would be the second woman to hold the post after Han Myeong-sook (2006–2007).
