¨     Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan is a water conservation campaign of Gujarat focused on deepening ponds, desilting dams, repairing check dams, and groundwater recharge.

¨     The campaign is implemented through state government departments with active public participation.

¨     It is linked with the 'Catch the Rain' water conservation programme.

¨     In 2026, the campaign increased Gujarat's water storage capacity by 20,789 lakh cubic feet.

¨     Over the last eight years, the state's total water storage capacity increased by 1,38,039 lakh cubic feet.

¨     Between 2018 and 2024, 1,07,608 water conservation projects were completed.

¨     These included the construction of 36,979 new lakes and desilting of 24,086 check dams.

¨     By May 2026, 13,315 water conservation projects had been completed across Gujarat.

¨     The 2026 campaign included 2,450 pond-deepening projects, 3,661 check dam desilting projects, and 1,160 check dam repair projects.

¨     Bhupendra Patel launched the 2026 campaign from Gandhinagar on 23 February 2026.

¨     The campaign generated over 2.3 million person-days of employment during 2026.

¨     Restoration and desilting work of the Mesri River has been underway since June 2026 under the Sujalam Sufalam scheme.

¨     The river restoration work includes active community participation.
