Trump touts newly released plans for D.C.
triumphal arch
¨ U.S. President Donald
Trump unveiled a plan to construct a massive, gold-adorned triumphal arch.
¨
This arch is to be named
the ‘Arc de Trump’ and is slated to be built in Washington D.C.
¨ The proposed monument
would stand approximately 250 feet tall, making it larger even than iconic
structures such as the United States Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial.
¨ The structure is designed
to serve as a grand symbol honoring American heroes and national pride.
Design Inspired by a Historic European
Monument
¨ The design of this arch
is inspired by the renowned ‘Arc de Triomphe’ located in Paris, France.
¨ It will feature golden
inscriptions, large decorative elements such as eagles and lions, as well as a
torch-shaped structure reminiscent of the ‘Statue of Liberty.’
¨
The plan calls for the
arch to be built near the ‘Memorial Bridge,’ where it would serve as a grand
gateway to the U.S. capital.
Funding and Approval Process
¨ The proposal for this
project has been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts for review.
¨
According to the plans,
the project could receive government funding, including millions allocated
through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
¨
However, the project
still requires multiple approvals and must undergo legal and financial
scrutiny.
