Union Cabinet approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for another five years

¨     Union Cabinet approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for another five years on 31 July 2026.

¨     The scheme will continue from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with a total financial outlay of ₹3,15,614 crore.

¨     PM-KISAN is a Central Sector Scheme launched on 24 February 2019.

¨     The scheme provides annual income support of ₹6,000 to eligible landholding farmer families.

¨     The financial assistance is provided in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each.

¨     The amount is directly transferred into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.

¨     Since its launch, more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has been transferred to farmers under the scheme through 23 instalments.

¨     The 23rd instalment, released in June 2026, benefited more than 9.49 crore farmers and involved an amount of over ₹18,984 crore.

¨     PM-KISAN is implemented by the Government of India and covers eligible landholding farmer families across the country.

¨     The scheme uses Aadhaar-based authentication and bank account linkage to ensure transparent and efficient payment delivery.

¨     The continuation of the scheme aims to provide sustained income support to farmers, improve financial stability in rural areas, and strengthen agricultural livelihoods.

¨     PM-KISAN is an important initiative for promoting farmer welfare, inclusive growth, and digital-based delivery of government benefits.
