Union Home Minister Amit
Shah is scheduled to launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) in New Delhi
on 9 June 2026.
¨
LPMS is a digital
platform developed for the management of land ports and the movement of
cross-border cargo and passengers.
¨
The system is designed to
integrate the operations of all land ports into a single digital platform.
¨
It provides end-to-end
digital workflows for cargo and passenger processing.
Key features of LPMS include:
¨
Slot booking
¨
Online payments
¨
Cargo tracking
¨
Single-window clearances
LPMS will be integrated with ICEGATE, the Unified
Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP), and the Motor Vehicle ecosystem. ICEGATE
(Indian Customs Electronic Gateway) is the electronic platform used for
customs-related filing and data exchange in India. ULIP is a national digital
logistics platform that enables data integration across transport, trade, and
logistics systems. Land ports are designated border facilities that handle
passengers, cargo, and vehicles at international land borders. India has land
ports along its borders with Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Pakistan.
The Land Ports Authority of India manages several land ports under the Land
Ports Authority of India Act, 2010. The LPMS aims to improve efficiency,
transparency, and ease of doing business in cross-border trade and passenger
movement.
