Uttar Pradesh Government launched the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme in Varanasi

¨     Uttar Pradesh Government launched the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme (Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana) in Varanasi on 8 July 2026.

¨     The scheme provides cashless medical treatment to teaching and non-teaching staff and their dependents.

¨     It covers around 12–15 lakh beneficiaries from government, aided, and grant-in-aid schools under the Basic and Secondary Education Department.

¨     The beneficiaries also include Shiksha Mitras, instructors, cooks, and staff of Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools.

¨     Each eligible family is entitled to cashless medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per year.

¨     Treatment can be availed at government hospitals and empanelled private hospitals.

¨     The Uttar Pradesh Government will bear the entire annual premium of the scheme.

¨     The estimated annual premium is ₹447 crore, averaging around ₹3,000 per teacher per year.

¨     The scheme will be implemented by the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS).

¨     It is modelled on the Ayushman Bharat public health insurance scheme.
