World Happiness Report 2026

¨     In the World Happiness Report 2026, Finland has once again been declared the happiest country in the world. This marks the ninth consecutive year that Finland has held the top spot.

¨  The report is published by the Wellbeing Research Centre. Notably, the report also highlights the negative impact of social media on young people.

¨     In a list comprising 147 countries, Pakistan ranks 104th, while India stands at the 116th position. In 2025, India's ranking was 118th. Meanwhile, Israel—which has been embroiled in conflict for two and a half years—has been identified as the world's 8th happiest country.

¨     Countries plagued by conflict occupy the bottom of the list; Afghanistan once again remains the least happy nation, followed by Sierra Leone and Malawi.
