14th South Asian Games

¨     Pakistan will host the 14th South Asian Games (XIV South Asian Games) from 23 March to 31 March 2027.

¨     The Games will be held in Lahore, Islamabad, and Faisalabad.

¨     More than 3,500 athletes from eight South Asian countries are expected to compete.

¨     A total of 27 sports will be featured in the event.

¨     The South Asian Games are also known as the South Asian Federation Games.

¨     It is a regional multi-sport event for South Asian countries.

¨     The Games are organised under the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC).

¨     Participating nations are members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) sporting framework.

¨     Pakistan was announced as the host nation in December 2019.

¨     Pakistan Olympic Association President Arif Hassan received the Games flag after the host announcement.

¨     The Games were initially scheduled for March 2023.

¨     They were later postponed to March 2024, January 2026, and finally March 2027.

¨     Pakistan will host the South Asian Games for the third time.

¨     It previously hosted the Games in 1989 and 2004.

¨     The 2027 edition will be the first South Asian Games in Pakistan to be held outside Islamabad, with events also taking place in Lahore and Faisalabad.

¨     The South Asian Games are also called the South Asian Federation Games.

¨     The 2027 edition will be the 14th South Asian Games.

¨     The South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) is the governing body of the Games.

¨     The 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
