An Indian delegation visited Kyrgyzstan from 4–7 July 2026 for the inauguration

¨     An Indian delegation visited Kyrgyzstan from 4–7 July 2026 for the inauguration of the International Centre for Civilizational Studies “Manas and Mahabharata” in Bishkek.

¨     The centre has been established through collaboration between the Manas National Academy (Kyrgyzstan) and the Centre for Studies of International Relations (CSIR), New Delhi.

¨     It will serve as a joint platform for comparative civilizational studies.

¨     The Manas National Academy is a Kyrgyz institution dedicated to the study of the country's national epic, Manas.

¨     The Centre for Studies of International Relations (CSIR) is based in New Delhi and focuses on academic and policy-oriented international studies.

¨     Manas is the national epic of Kyrgyzstan and is one of the longest oral epics in the world.

¨     The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Ramayana.

¨     The centre will promote research on the epic traditions, history, culture, and intercultural dialogue associated with Manas and the Mahabharata.

¨     The first Hindi translation of the Kyrgyz epic Manas was released during the inauguration.

¨     The translation was prepared by Prof. Hem Chandra Pande and Prof. Ramakant Dwivedi, based on the Russian poetic retelling by Kyrgyz writer Mar Baizhiev.

¨     Trilateral cooperation agreements were signed between the Manas National Academy, the Centre for Studies of International Relations (CSIR), and seven universities in Kyrgyzstan, including Kyrgyz National University (KNU), Bishkek State University (BSU), American University of Central Asia (AUCA), and Ala-Too International University.
