Andhra Pradesh Announces ₹22,000 Crore
Green Energy Corridor Plan
¨
Andhra Pradesh announced
a ₹22,000 crore Green Energy Corridor plan on 29 May 2026.
¨
The aim is to integrate
18 gigawatts of renewable energy into the state power grid.
¨
The project is part of
Green Energy Corridor Phase-III.
¨
It includes solar power
projects, pumped storage projects, transmission infrastructure, and pooling
stations.
¨
Under the plan, 11 GW of
solar power and about 7 GW from pumped storage projects will be integrated into
the grid.
¨
A total of 2,261 km of
new transmission lines will be developed.
¨
Five major pooling
stations will be set up with a combined capacity of 9,500 MW.
¨
The proposed pooling
stations are at Mudigubba, Talupula, Ramayapatnam, Porumamilla, and Koppaka.
¨
Andhra Pradesh has set a
long-term target of 160 GW of green energy generation.
¨
The corridor is designed
to support power needs of data centres and industries requiring stable and
large-scale electricity supply.
¨
The state is also
developing India’s first Digital Twin Grid for power management.
¨
The system is supported
by an organisation called “Pravah,” associated with Stanford University and an
AI lab, to reduce technical power losses.
¨ A World Economic Forum delegation met the Chief Minister on 29 May 2026 to discuss the state’s first Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).
¨ Discussions focused on green energy transition and cyber resilience.
