IBPS PO Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the IBPS PO Recruitment 2026, candidates must ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification. Failure to meet any eligibility requirement at any stage of the recruitment process may lead to cancellation of the candidature.

Nationality

A candidate applying for the IBPS PO 2026 examination must belong to one of the following categories:

  • A citizen of India.
  • A citizen of Nepal.
  • A citizen of Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: Candidates belonging to categories other than Indian citizens must possess a valid Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.

IBPS PO 2026 Age Limit

The age of the candidate will be calculated as on 1 July 2026.

Important: Candidates claiming age relaxation must produce the relevant supporting certificates during the interview and document verification process.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution approved by the Government of India.

  • Graduation must be completed from a recognized university.
  • The final result should have been declared on or before 21 July 2026.
  • Candidates must correctly mention their graduation percentage while filling out the online application form.
  • If the university awards CGPA/OGPA, it should be converted into percentage according to the university's prescribed conversion formula.
Can Final-Year Students Apply?

No. Only candidates whose graduation results have been declared on or before 21 July 2026 are eligible to apply for the IBPS PO Recruitment 2026.

Eligibility for Economically Weaker Section (EWS)

Candidates applying under the EWS category can avail reservation benefits as per Government of India guidelines. To be eligible under the EWS category:

  • The annual family income should be less than ₹8 lakh.
  • The family should not own assets exceeding the prescribed government limits.
  • Candidates must possess a valid EWS Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format at the time of document verification.
Special Provisions for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

IBPS provides several facilities to candidates belonging to the PwBD category to ensure equal opportunities during the examination. These include:

  • Facility of a scribe wherever applicable.
  • Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour during the examination.
  • Magnified font facility for visually impaired candidates.
  • Reservation and relaxation benefits as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.

Candidates must produce a valid disability certificate in the prescribed format whenever required.
